Naughty Or Nice

QUESTIONS OF THE DAY.

Why isn’t the number 11 pronounced onety-one?

Why do croutons come in airtight packages?
Aren’t they just stale bread to begin with?

If people from Poland are called Poles, then why aren’t people from Holland called Holes?

If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled?

Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist, but a person who drives a racecar is not called a racist?

If it’s true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, then doesn’t it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked, and dry cleaners depressed?

If Fed Ex and UPS were to merge, would they call it Fed UP?

Do Lipton Tea employees take ‘coffee breaks?’

What hair color do they put on the driver’s licenses of bald men?

Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we supposed to do, write to them?

Why don’t they just put their pictures on the postage stamps so the mailmen can look for them while they deliver the mail?

Is it true that you never really learn to swear until you learn to drive?

Why, Why, Why do we press harder on the remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?

Why do banks charge a fee due to insufficient funds when they already know you’re broke?

Why is it that when someone tells you that there are one billion stars in the universe you believe them, but if they tell you there is wet paint you have to touch it to check?

Why do they use sterilized needles for lethal injections?

Why did Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose cruel idea was it to put an “s” in the word “lisp”?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that, no matter what color bubble bath you use, the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people run over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it and then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will ever open from the first end you try?

How do those dead bugs get into the enclosed light fixtures?

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that’s falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

Why, in winter, do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

Do you ever wonder why you gave me your e-mail address
in the first place?

And A FAVORITE: The statistics on sanity say that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they’re OK, then it’s you!)

REMEMBER, A day without a smile is like a day without sunshine!
And a day without sunshine is, like……….night!!!!

We are saddened this week at the untimely passing of industry icon Craig Lewis of Balter Sales.

Thank You

Thank you for making our grand opening a rousing success.

If you were one of our many guests during the day and night, or even if you joined us in spirit only, we are grateful for your continuing support.

A special thanks is in order to our culinary duo of Chef Nicholas Mercogliano, CEC and Chef Stefano Tarani and our entire team who worked tirelessly to make this event memorable!

So this is what I carry these days in lieu of a trunk full of binders.  Saves on gas mileage too!

Carolina Garcia-Navarro has joined Irinox USA as Operations Manager.

Carolina began her culinary career the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto and later became owner of a popular restaurant in Panama City.  Afterward, as GM for a boutique hotel, she was responsible for the oversight of operations and guest relations. Her journey landed her in Miami FL as the event producer for a luxury catering company.

Meghan the Vegan

Meghan the Vegan
by Joe Ferri

I must have my meal

But cannot eat veal

I cannot eat eel

A banana I’d peel!

I cannot eat lamb

I cannot eat ham

Who will advise me

What’s in that canned spam?

I can’t have scungilli

But might have fusilli

As long as the sauce

Resists meat at all costs

I’d love some blueberries

Or even ripe cherries

I’ll leave the lobsters

To gangstas and mobsters

I cannot eat custard

Tho’ slathered with mustard

For me, there’s no quails

No entrails, no snails

Although it seems quirky,

No turkey, no jerky

No scrambled eggs

Nor fried chicken legs

I cannot eat clams

But love the grape jams

Who’s gonna tell me

What’s in that canned spam?

With all that’s at “steakâ€

Just let me eat cake

No Show

To the Industry:

By now you may be aware that Pecinka Ferri and our factory partners have decided not to exhibit at the HotelX show (formerly known as the IH/M&RS) this week at Javits, choosing instead to redeploy our marketing assets to other endeavors.

This was, by no means an easy decision.  It would have been our forty-fourth (personally, my fortieth) year working booths at the event!  Sadly, the ROI simply did not justify our participation in 2015, especially given the show’s new-found emphasis on the lodging sector and the de-emphasis of foodservice.

We will be there as attendees, participating in many of the events, and evaluating our future trade-show plans.

As our dynamic marketplace of foodservice equipment and supplies is further disrupted by emerging technologies, we intend to engage all of our industry partners in the discussion of the proper role of the various marketing opportunities available.

  • Effective, Monday, January 4, 2016, a new price list on Lakeside and Geneva models will be implemented.  The pricing addendums will be published the second week in November.

  • Southern Pride’s 2016 Price List now available HERE

Geneva can tailor existing standard products or completely custom-build one.
